Shawn Prez and Yung Joc shared an insightful discussion on the influential effect of Ice Cube. They agreed Ice Cube doesn’t get the recognition he deserves due to his raw and powerful messages being overshadowed by the gangster image. They highlighted how Ice Cube voiced the significant issues they faced, making it relatable and meaningful to many. They addressed their frustrations with the current wave of youth who have a powerful platform but often waste it on nonsense rather than honoring their predecessors by instigating change. Urging them to learn from their ancestors, Yung Joc implied if those who fought against racial inequality during the 50s and 60s had access to the resources we have today, the world would be a different place. Yung Joc also noted how losing the message from music can be likened to forgetting the foundation of a relationship; essential elements mustn’t be left out.
