In 2020, Kyle Overmyer was released from prison, facing the harsh reality of starting over homeless, bankrupt, and divorced. With an ankle monitor and felony record, returning to his previous life was impossible. Kyle endured losing his family and home, spending four years without seeing his children. Initially, he found refuge on a community college library worker’s air mattress, avoiding homelessness.

Determined to rebuild, Kyle secured his first post-prison job frying chicken at a local franchise, thanks to a supportive employer who believed in second chances. Despite online negativity from the community, Kyle remained focused on recovery, regularly attending AA meetings and eventually working at a treatment center helping others battling addiction.

Through perseverance and openness about his journey on social media, Kyle reconnected with people and found new purpose. By late 2020, he met Jennifer, whom he married just six weeks after their first lunch, marking the start of a hopeful new chapter.
