“The truth in a room full of liars,” ask this eclectic hip-hop artist “Who is Chuck Mason?” and he will surely tell you the same. This Indianapolis, IN native commits wholeheartedly to lyrical ingenuity, almost effortlessly it seems. Indianagrind.com states this about Chuck “One of the dopest rappers I’ve come across since I’ve made the site.”
In 2010, The Blackout Mixtape was arguably the most anticipated and longest awaited project in the Indianapolis hip-hop community. Chuck worked alongside close friends and colleagues, producers The Unbeatablez for production of the Summer’s Eulogy LP which debuted September 22, 2013. The LP encompasses his paradigm using methods of comedy, poetry, and lyricism. He preaches honesty, loyalty, and many other common factors of morality, displaying undeniably the light of truth that has been so easily veiled by the dark. Summer’s Eulogy LP is set to be followed by Summer’s Eulogy II, Indianapolis: City of Impossible Dreams and 3 EPs (Black Angel, Invictus, and Magnum Opus.)
Mason has been a recording artist for the past 13 years and has worked alongside many other local artists to help enhance the local hip-hop scene. He firmly believes that no one artist can carry the burden of establishing Indianapolis as a prominent hip-hop scene by himself; in his song La Viva he says “The nerve that these rappers claim heir to the throne. Think that they can bear the weight of Nap (Indianapolis) all on their own. I ain’t sayin’ that you’re wrong ‘cause duh *explicative* you’re grown. Just don’t see how Caesar, all on his own, could build Rome.” Starting with Summer’s Eulogy, he puts into play his 2 year plan for releasing 6 projects.
Chuck’s first release “The Blackout” has received words of praise from local media, radio personalities, and promoters including IndyRap.com, Juan Hustle, and Sam-I-Am of Guru Inc. Aiming to live up to and exceed the high expectations of The Blackout, beyond a shadow of a doubt, Chuck Mason will not disappoint.
