Texas mother Virginia Gonzales has pleaded guilty to locking her seven-year-old daughter in a closet for weeks, leaving the child severely malnourished with permanent brain damage, and will spend 25 years in prison. Investigators uncovered that Gonzales had an eighth child, Ava Marie Gonzales, who was never reported missing and hasn’t been seen since 2017, with new court documents indicating police now believe Ava was killed by her mother. While the child abuse case is resolved, the investigation into Ava’s disappearance, now treated as a possible murder, remains ongoing. Law&Crime’s Chris Stewart is On the Case.
