Mom Blames Son’s Death on Fake Medical Condition
A 14-year-old boy in Daytona Beach was found unresponsive and severely emaciated, weighing just 33 pounds, initially raising questions about a possible medical condition before investigators uncovered signs of long-term abuse and neglect. Despite his mother Talia Nelson’s claims of a rare bone disease and eating issues, evidence showed he hadn’t seen a doctor in years and had suffered injuries, malnutrition, and lived in deplorable conditions. His death was ruled a homicide, and Nelson was ultimately sentenced to 32 years in prison after pleading no contest to aggravated manslaughter of a child and child abuse.
