Alt-J Preview Music From New Album, Rumored to Release in June

Alt-J have been relatively quiet since the 2014 release of their sophomore album This Is All Yours, but they resurfaced today with a couple big pieces of news.

First, a 54-second preview of new music titled “00110011 01110111 01110111” (which is binary code for 3WW) was uploaded to their YouTube channel accompanied by appropriately glitchy visuals. Stereogum points out that “3WW” is also the name that shows up when the song is searched on Shazam.

Then, users of the atrl forums noticed a listing in the Japanese iTunes store for an eight song Alt-J album titled Relaxer. Along with cover art that mirrors the visuals in the preview clip and a tracklist, the listing also included a release date of June 9. If this information turns out to be legitimate, “3W” will be the intro song on the album.
