Beyoncé and Solange’s Albums Receive the Chopped Treatment
Last year, both Beyoncé and Solange gifted us with two incredible albums. As if releasing two critically acclaimed albums wasn’t enough for this talented family, both Lemonade and A Seat at the Table landed at the No. 1 spot on the Billboard charts in 2016. To celebrate the great year the Knowles sisters had, The Chopstars decided to give each of their albums the “chopped, not slopped” treatment.
The Chopstars— OG Ron C, DJ Slim K, and DJ Candlestick—frequently put their slowed down touch on some of our favorite albums, but their latest effort feels long overdue. Last year they delivered chopped versions of Frank Ocean’s Blond (appropriately renaming it Purpl) and Chance The Rapper’s Coloring Book, now they’re back with more.
Chopped and screwed music is something that is deeply embedded into the Houston culture, so it only seems right that two of Houston’s hometown heroes would be the latest to get the chopped treatment to their albums. The Chopstars mix up songs from both Lemonade and A Seat at the Table to create one long chopped, not slopped Knowles sisters mix.
