Beyoncé Bows Out of Coachella 2017, Will Perform in 2018

Take a deep breath. This one will sting. Beyoncé is not going to perform at this year’s Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival. Parkwood Entertainment and Coachella producer Goldenvoice confirmed the move in a statement to the Associated Press Thursday, adding that she will instead headline the 2018 edition.

Beyoncé, according to the statement, pulled out of the highly anticipated festival slot following advice from her doctors to “keep a less rigorous schedule in the coming months.” In case you somehow missed the internet exploding earlier this month, here’s a friendly reminder: Beyoncé and Jay Z are having twins.

“We would like to share our love and happiness,” Beyoncé wrote in her artful Instagram announcement. “We have been blessed two times over. We are incredibly grateful that our family will be growing by two, and we thank you for your well wishes.” The couple welcomed their first child, Blue Ivy, in 2012.

Mere hours after the twins announcement, TMZ ran a story about the pregnancy being a total surprise to AEG Live execs. At the time, sources claimed to TMZ that Beyoncé’s involvement with the festival was “unclear.” People kinda sorta totally freaked out. That report, however, was rebuked a few days later by a separate TMZ collection of sources claiming plans to cancel Bey’s Coachella performance did not exist. People kinda sorta totally celebrated. But none of that matters now, does it?

Though a replacement for Beyoncé hasn’t been announced, the three-day fest is still pretty stacked. Radiohead, Bon Iver, Travis Scott, Mac Miller, DJ Shadow, Future, Gucci Mane, DJ Khaled, Lorde, Lil Uzi Vert, and a ton more are still very much onboard.
