Brayton Bowman Releases His ‘All Autobiographical’ Project ’22 Minutes Later’

In the middle of a great day for new music (see: Future, Taylor Bennett, Steve Lacy, Nav, and more) we can add another superb release to the list—singer-songwriter Brayton Bowman’s mixtape 22 Minutes Later.

Bowman, already labeled an artist to watch by Spin, created the new project alongside producer MNEK. But despite having a collaborator on the musical side, Bowman kept the lyrics extremely personal.

“My stuff is all autobiographical,” he said in a statement. “I want you to know that if you hear me singing, it’s from my journal.”

The project was recorded in both New York and MNEK’s native East London, which allowed some British influences to seep in. “In the UK, they haven’t forgotten that pop music means ‘popular’—there’s no identity to it,” the singer explained.
