Chance the Rapper Inspires NFL Player to Donate All His Endorsement Money in 2017
Just two days after Chance the Rapper announced that he would be donating $1 million to the Chicago Public School system, Seattle Seahawks defensive end Michael Bennett made a similar move by saying he’d donate all his 2017 endorsement money to “rebuild minority communities through s.t.e.a.m programs.” Bennett also said that the donated dough will go to “initiatives that directly affect women of color.” He says the action was inspired by Chance’s pledge.
Furthermore, he stated that half his jersey sales money would go to programs that would provide proper nutrition to inner-city communities. Bennett announced the deed(s) via a wall of text on his Instagram page.
“I was inspired by Chance The Rapper to ‘think bigger’ when he pledged one million dollars to Chicago kids and their school system,” he wrote. “I’ll be joining him by investing in the future of our youth. The system is failing our kids, and it will be up to the community and our leaders to help keep the hope alive by focusing on improving our education system and the future of our kids.” You can read his full message below.
The veteran lineman’s gesture follows his commitment to combating childhood obesity, which he already did through The Bennett Foundation. As you can see, he also challenged other athletes to follow suit with their earnings.
