Check out KAMAU’s New Video For “Mint”
KAMAU had quite the year in 2016. Aside from killing both the theme song for our P&P Updates and our November No Ceilings show in London, the D.C native also released a magnificent EP A Gorgeous Fortune.
KAMAU has a very unique sound, it’s not too easy to describe but one thing that you can definitely feel is raw and honesty throughout his records. “MiNT” is a perfect example of that as he connects with Talibah Safiya and the two deliver a solid, soulful offering.
The Visual for MiNT of TheKAMAU-CASSETTE: əRTH GōLD was shot in Dumbo, Brooklyn, New York by iF, (The Invisible Firm). iF, the company which produced, shot, directed, and edited the video, was also the creative force behind KAMAU’s live visuals and the visuals and artwork of A Gorgeous Fortune.
“MiNT” follows two characters, played by KAMAU & Talibah Safiya, in love and search of a place to sleep. In the short musical piece, we see the two perform the song MiNT whilst in the gratitude of each others presence. It is a blessing to be and to be here and present. It is a blessing to breath, but for many, not an exclusively pretty one. For many, this reality on breath, is both magnificently soft and immensely harsh. It is in those moments of harshness that we a forced to see how much we need each other. Even in achieving our prime act, being born, there would have needed to have been at least two. Living is collaborating within the great unity. Even in breath, we need the output of things outside of ourselves, (Oxygen from phytoplankton, algae, bacteria and many terrestrial and aquatic plants, etc.) There is a certain level of unity, respect, servitude and co-dependency prerequisite for love, or anything to grow.
