Did Drake Just Tease New Music With 40?
At the very least, Drake recently paid Noah “40” Shebib a visit in the studio and grabbed a quick pic on the couch. At the very most, the two frequent collaborators and OVO Sound co-founders are working on some new sounds. In an Instagram post Tuesday night, Drake left much to the imagination. “Visited 40 today,” Drake captioned the photo above. 40 did not post about the visit.
Though the Instagram post doesn’t explicitly mention new music, Drake hasn’t recently been one for extended breaks between releases. This year’s More Life project, for example, arrived less than a year after his 2016 smash Views. 2015 saw two Drake releases, with If You’re Reading This It’s Too Late and the Future collab What a Time to Be Alive arriving mere months apart.
With that history in mind, some Drake fans are getting excited about whatever may or may not be in the works:
Others have noted that it’s been a few years since Drake last took a full-on break:
The More Life project gave Drake his seventh No. 1 debut on the Billboard 200. The album playlist scored 505,000 equivalent album units in its first week, besting Drake’s own record with Views from the previous year. Those More Life numbers proved unbeatable until the release of Kendrick Lamar’s Damn.
