Don’t Ask Jay Z About Donald Trump
Jay Z attended the 2017 Sundance Film Festival to promote Time: The Kalief Browder Story, a six-part Spike docuseries on the life of Kalief Browder. While there, the rapper fielded questions from reporters about the docuseries and also shared a story about meeting Browder:
One reporter attempted to shift the focus away from the docuseries by asking Jay Z what his thoughts were on Donald Trump, and Hov shut them down with the quickness.
“Not going to answer that,” he said, and fellow executive producer Harvey Weinstein stepped in to end the Q&A.
Jay Z publicly supported Hillary Clinton on her campaign trail, and even held a special concert in Cleveland just a few days before Election Day. Trump later criticized Clinton and Jay Z for the language (re: lyrics) used at the event, though he did admit, “I actually like Jay Z.”
Maybe this reporter was hoping to get a juicy sound bite from Jay. In the end they just ruined it for everyone else.

Trump questions aside, it appears the premiere and post-conversation with the series creators and executives went smoothly. Doug E. Fresh even stopped by to congratulate Jay Z on his success and promoting a positive image. You can check out some photos and videos of the event below.

The premier of The Kalief Browder Story was heavy. Very heavy. But producers hope it will lead to legislative changes. #Sundance pic.twitter.com/kXt1I0YSCH
