Drake Slams Coachella Country Club for ‘Racial Profiling’
Drake has publicly accused a country club in Coachella Valley of racial profiling, prompting a windfall of negative reviews on the establishment’s Yelp page. According to Drake, the Madison Club in La Quinta, California engaged in racial profiling during his visit this weekend.
“The most offensive place I have ever stayed at in my life,” Drake captioned a photo of the Madison Club’s logo on Instagram Sunday, “with staff who pick and choose who they are going to accommodate based on racial profiling.” At the time of this writing, the photo had been liked nearly 200,000 times:
Following Drake’s Instagram post, the Madison Club started receiving negative reviews on Yelp:
“Y’all upset Drake and his crew,” one review, posted Sunday, said. “You don’t mess with Drizzy and not get dragged. Here, take an L and have a seat with United Airlines. You’re done.”
In the comments beneath Drake’s original Instagram post, an account believed to be affiliated with the Madison Club apologized and said a “formal apology” was forthcoming. “We will also be investigating this as we do not tolerate racial discrimination,” @TheMadisonClubs said.
Though Drake wasn’t a Coachella headliner this past weekend, he did drop in for a surprise appearance during Future’s set Saturday evening. Drake performed “Gyalchester,” “Fake Love,” and “Jumpman.” Future also brought out Ty Dolla Sign and Migos.
