Fans Are Convinced Jay Z’s Made in America Performance Means a New Album Is Coming
Budweiser announced the lineup for this year’s Made in America festival on Monday, including headliners Jay Z and J. Cole. The 2017 edition of the Philadelphia music festival, founded by Jay Z back in 2012, will also boast performances from Solange, Migos, Run the Jewels, 21 Savage, and more.
With Jay Z set to headline the fest, industry veterans and fans alike are convinced that a new album is imminent:
Some fans have already started making requests, as if Jay Z actually reads replies:
Jay Z’s most recent album was Magna Carta Holy Grail, which dropped four long years ago as a Samsung exclusive on the Fourth of July. Though Jay kept things musically minimal in the years that followed, his output since the middle of 2016 has repeatedly inspired rumors of a new album. Jay showed up with Kanye West on the single version of Drake’s “Pop Style” in April, billed collectively as the Throne. As West revealed during a subsequent Saint Pablo tour stop, however, the streaming wars apparently got in the way of that collaboration moving forward.
This year, Jay has appeared on the DJ Khaled track “Shining” with Beyoncé and Frank Ocean‘s “Biking” alongside Tyler, the Creator. Back in February, TMZ got a shot of Jay Z and engineer Young Guru leaving a recording studio in Los Angeles:

New Jay on the way? This summer should bring some answers.
