Forest Swords Announces New Album, Shares Gorgeous “Arms Out” Video
Merseyside-based producer Forest Swords has announced the follow-up to 2013’s fantastic Engravings. Due May 5 via Ninja Tune, Compassion promises more forlorn sounds and adventurous production. To coincide with the announcement of the album, Forest Swords has shared a new single from the album entitled “Arms Out,” and it brings everything we’ve come to expect from his idiosyncratic sound.
The accompanying video for the new track is equally as gorgeous. Directed by Sam Wiehl and Forest Swords himself, the video crawls and provides another memorable visual to match his singular sound. All of his videos have been fantastic, and this is no exception to that. “Compassion is a response to the uncertain, aggressive new world we’re experiencing and communicating within,” reads the press release announcing the new album.
With a style all his own, Forest Swords is one of the most inventive producers today. The press release for the album mentionins that the album will be “followed by a set of multidisciplinary projects expanding the themes and concepts across wider disciplines, overseen by Forest Swords’ own Dense Truth, an experimental art studio and record label.” Fragments of jazz, beat music, orchestral beauty, and much more trickle down throughout his music, and that’s why his next release is one of the most exciting on the horizon.
Watch the video above, and look out for the rest of Compassion when it arrives May 5.
