Here’s How J. Cole’s ‘4 Your Eyez Only’ Album Cover Came Together

Photographer Anthony Supreme took to Instagram to share the full story about how his photo became the cover for J. Cole‘s new album  4 Your Eyez Only

The whole thing first came together when Anthony got a text from his friend Scott who works for Cole’s label Dreamville and who asked if he wanted to do the photography for the new album.

It turns out the photo that was ultimately picked for the album cover was actually from a day when Anthony, Cole, and Scott stumbled upon an Atlanta neighborhood while working on something else. “I described to Cole that there was just something about this young boys eyes,” he wrote. “This Atlanta neighborhood was just going crazy! People were running out of there house to take a photo of Cole and ask him questions but, their was something to me about this boy and how he kept looking at Cole as he walked around his neighborhood. I can see in his eyes how much this experience is slowly changing his life forever.”

For Anthony, it was the honesty of the moment that made the photo of the young boy one of the final selections that he pitched to Cole. “Everything we created during that time period was pure in the monument, pure connection and all the photos and content to come represents just that. Human connection, the universe and coincidence.”

This is actually the first ever album cover for the photographer, which he described as a dream come true. You can read Anthony Supreme’s full three-part explanation through his Instagrams above and below. Look for J. Cole’s new album, 4 Your Eyez Only, to arrive Friday, Dec. 9.
