Is Martin Shkreli Hosting a Listening Event for the Unreleased Wu-Tang Clan Album?
Pharmaceutical executive Martin Shkreli rose to infamy for jacking up the prices of a life-saving drug. But he also made headlines for dropping an insane amount of money on an unreleased Wu-Tang Clan project.
Shkreli purchased the Once Upon a Time in Shaolin album for more than $2 million in 2016. Since then, the real-life comic book villain has shared some snippets from the one-of-a-kind album and has promised Wu-Tang fans he would release it.
On Wednesday, Shkreli went to social media to promote an event in which he would give a lecture about politics, investing, and health care. Sounds boring AF; however, the presentation was also billed as an album listening event.
According to an Eventbrite listing, Shkreli was scheduled to play tracks from Once Upon a Time in Shaolin next Monday at NYC’s Webster Hall. Shortly after the announcement, Shkreli went on to Facebook claiming the venue had canceled the presentation after receiving threats.
It’s unclear if the event will take place at another venue. Tickets, which range from $15 to $50, are still on sale, but the location has been removed from the listing.
Stay tuned as more information comes through.
