It Sounds Like We Won’t Be Getting Young Thug’s ‘E.B.B.T.G.’ Any Time Soon
Young Thug lit up Twitter several weeks ago after he announced his upcoming project, E.B.B.T.G. (Easy Breezy Beautiful Thugger Girls). In a series of tweets, the Atlanta rapper described it as a “singing album” that would be executive produced by Drake. He also told his followers they could expect it to drop before the end of April.
Well, we’re now halfway through May and fans are still waiting on the project. Was Thugger trolling us? According to his engineer Alex Tumay, the album is real. It’s just taking longer than expected.
Earlier this week, Tumay responded to a tweet that suggested E.B.B.T.G. was a joke:
That’s reassuring news; however, some fans expressed their disappointment about the delay.
In a recent interview with Genius, Tumay dropped more details about the album’s creation. He mentioned hearing Thugger deliver a 24-bar verse that “sounded like Kendrick [Lamar].” He also said about a dozen songs have been recorded and scrapped for the “singing” project, which is dedicated to Thug’s fiancée, Jerrika Karlae.
“I think for [Thug], singing has to do with the romantic element more than the melodic element,” Tumay explained, “because he’s always melodic, even in his harder songs. ‘Danny Glover’ has some of the greatest melodies of all time.”
Let’s hope we get E.B.B.T.G.’s sooner than later. The album will be Thug’s first full-length release since 2016’s Jeffery.
