Jacques Greene and How To Dress Well Find Soulful Electronic Magic on “True”
I’m always blown away whenever an artist can pull raw human emotion out of a hard drive. Shredding your knuckles against a fretboard while pouring yourself into a guitar solo is one thing, but I’ll never quite understand how electronic musicians are able to translate their feelings through a piece of software.
That’s exactly what Jacques Greene and Tom Krell (How To Dress Well) are able to pull off on Greene’s new single “True.” Of course, that feat is made easier by the exceptional vocals that guide the record, but there’s something about those synth lines and drums that are able to pull out and accentuate the song’s intense range of human emotions. These guys are wizards.
“The essence of the record is to draw emotions that above all feel human within the context of dance music,” Greene puts it. “I want it to be celebratory of all that we feel and do and experience – the beautiful, the good, and the bad.”
The single (with vocals mixed by Alex Tumay) will appear on Greene’s debut album, Feel Infinite, out on March 10. Listen above.
