Kanye West Addresses Donald Trump Meeting on Twitter
Kanye West has taken to Twitter for the first time in two months to address fans directly about his meeting with Donald Trump.
“I wanted to meet with Trump today to discuss multicultural issues,” ‘Ye began. “These issues included bullying, supporting teachers, modernizing curriculums, and violence in Chicago.”
He went on to talk about the importance of having dialog and added that he feels “it is important to have a direct line of communication with our future President if we truly want change.”
Another tweet simply contained the hashtag, “#2024,” likely alluding to his infamous statement about running for the White House. Of course, Kanye got all of his fans excited back in 2015 when he announced during his MTV Video Vanguard speech that he planned to run for president in the next election cycle. He later kept the idea alive by shouting out 2020 during shows including his performance at last year’s iHeart Radio Music Festival. It seems the 2024 hashtag could mean he doesn’t want to potentially run against Trump in 2020 when and if Trump runs for re-election.
Tuesday morning, Kanye showed up at the Trump Tower in New York City for a meeting with the President-Elect. Twitter exploded as everyone began to speculate the reason behind their meeting. The pair came downstairs for a quick photo opp with reporters with Trump only disclosing that the pair had talked about “life.” Reports later surfaced that the two had met to discuss a potential “ambassador” type role.
We’ll continue to update this post as Kanye continues to tweet. Check out what Kanye had to say about the meeting below and stay tuned.
