Kanye West Denies Saying Drake’s Music Is Being Overplayed on Radio
Over the weekend, a new Drake and DJ Semtex interview aired on OVO Sound Radio. During the revealing conversation, Drake talked in-depth about Meek Mill, Jay Z, Quentin Miller, ghostwriting, and much more. Additionally, he discussed Kanye West and what really happened with “Pop Style,” and explained that ‘Ye really wanted to be on Views. “I know he was really upset because at that time we were working together pretty heavy and he really wanted to be on the record, but you know,” Drake said.
Drizzy then said the comments Kanye made about him and DJ Khaled getting radio play during the Saint Pablo Tour made him decide to distance himself from ‘Ye. “I went from working on a project with [Kanye] to him shitting on me and Khaled for being on the radio too much,” he said. When the interview aired, many wondered if Kanye would take to Twitter to address the situation. That never happened, but a paparazzi did catch Kanye on Monday, and told him that he agreed that Drake’s music is being overplayed. Kanye quickly denied he said that and kept it moving.
For reference, during that rant, Kanye said that he loved Drake and Khaled, but that the song was “set up” to dominate radio. Drake obviously took that statement a certain way, but it’s clear Kanye doesn’t want anyone mixing up his words. The entire thing is sort of a shame, especially since Kanye and Drake reportedly already recorded the majority of a new album together. Hopefully that still comes out someday.
