Kendrick Lamar’s ‘Damn’ Remains No. 1 on the Billboard 200 Chart
For the second consecutive week, Kendrick Lamar‘s Damn sits atop the Billboard 200 albums chart. With 238,000 traditional album units, Damn was able to fend off Drake‘s More Life and ÷ by Ed Sheeran, which came in second and third selling 77,000 and 55,000 units, respectively.
While the album experienced a 61 percent decline in sales compared to its debut week where it moved 603,000 units, Damn still had the fourth-largest second week showing this year. According to Billboard, Damn‘s performance on the charts was due in large part to streams where the streaming equivalent albums, or SEA, came in at 136,000 units.
All in all, its another great week for K. Dot who continues to tell the competition to sit down and be humble. Last week, Kendrick’s entire album was littered all over Billboard’s Hot 100 list. While it was “HUMBLE.” that stood above the rest, “DNA.” wasn’t too far behind in fourth. Meanwhile, “ELEMENT.” was able to crack the top 20, and “DUCKWORTH.” had the worst showing of all, winding up at 63rd.
Even Drake had to take a minute and recognize how Kendrick is performing on the charts.
While it could be perceived that Drizzy is indirectly acknowledging Kendrick by mentioning how well hip-hop, or “our music,” is faring on the charts, K.Dot has once again proven to the world that he’s a force to reckon with in the rap game and on the charts.
