Lady Gaga Will Replace Beyoncé at Coachella, and People Have Mixed Feelings About It

After it was announced Beyoncé would not perform at this year’s Coachella, people immediately began speculating about who would fill her shoes. Would it be Rihanna? Daft Punk? Or maybe Bey’s significant other, Jay Z?

Well, after a week of anticipation, we now have an answer. Billboard reports Coachella organizers have replaced Beyoncé with one of her previous collaborators: Lady Gaga.

According to the publication, the Joanne singer will perform during both weekends of the festival, Saturdays April 15 and 22 at Empire Polo Grounds in Indio, California. Sources said organizers are finalizing the deal and will make a formal announcement later this week.

The Coachella shakeup has been an emotional roller coaster for ticket-holders. Last week, it was confirmed Beyoncé would no longer headline the event, after doctors advised her to “keep a less rigorous schedule” while pregnant with twins. Coachella officials rescheduled her performance for the 2018 festival, which seemed to disappoint many fans.

Organizers told Billboard they wanted to replace Bey with another female artist, as none have headlined Coachella since Bjork in 2007.
