Listen to Arca’s New Self-Titled Album
Ever since Arca arrived with a splash in 2013 with production for both FKA twigs and Kanye West, he’s been making a name for himself as one of the most exciting producers around. He’s since gone on to work with Björk and Frank Ocean among others, and he’s even signed to XL Recordings in that time, too. Needless to say, he’s done incredibly well for himself thanks to his idiosyncratic production style, which immediately stands out regardless of who’s atop it.
Now he’s taken to singing himself, and the result is his best album to date. The new self-titled album is his first on XL Recordings, and it’s stunning. Entirely self-produced, the album sees Arca providing his vocals across his dark and hugely atmospheric soundscapes to fantastic effect. Even if the language barrier means not everyone will understand what he’s singing about on the album, it nevertheless makes for a compelling listen filled with micro-moments of beauty amidst intensity and harsh noises.
