Odd Future’s Hodgy Previews His Upcoming Album With New Single “Final Hour” F/ Busta Rhymes
Hodgy is gearing up for the release of his debut solo album Fireplace: TheNotTheOtherSide next Friday, Dec. 9, and he’s teasing fans with a second single. This time, the Odd Future founding member brings Busta Rhymes along for the new track “Final Hour.” Over a driving, percussive beat by 88-Keys, Hodgy raps and croons before handing the reigns over to Busta, who delivers a typical rapid-fire verse.
Hodgy’s album will include features from Lil Wayne and Salomon Faye along with Busta, and has production from BADBADNOTGOOD, Knxwledge, Unknown Mortal Orchestra, Nottz, and more.
“My debut album is gratefully my past to present,” Hodgy said in a press release. “Same time I had got my solo deal, around the time me and my child’s mother were at wit’s end, I was in search for a higher ground… I had to do a lot of living and transform in order to feel and speak my truth, to say what I really felt on the album rather than just rap. I’m gifted.”
The album follows his Dukkha mixtape, which dropped in August of this year. Back then, he billed it as a “pre game” for his album, which was called World Champion at the time. It’s since changed titles, but is still set for it’s release before the end of the calendar year.
