Premiere: Dumbfoundead Drops New Video for “형(Hyung)” f/ Dok2, Simon Dominic, and Tiger JK

Dumbfoundead begins a major chapter in his career as he announces his new collective and label, BORN CTZN, as well as drops his new single “형(Hyung)” which will be featured on his upcoming Foreigner EP.

“형(Hyung),” a banger of a track produced by Big Banana, includes guest spots from some veterans in the Korean rap scene that Dumbfoundead has a ton of respect for: Dok2, Simon Dominic, and Tiger JK. It’s fitting then that the song and its accompanying video directed by The Cut offers a unique take on what “hyung” means to the Los Angeles-based rapper.

“Hyung is a Korean term used by males to address another male that’s older or holds a higher position,” Dumbfoundead tells Complex. “For this song, I called up my good friends Dok2, Simon Dominic, and Tiger JK who are household names in Korean hip-hop. In a country where age dictates how respect is shown, I wanted to make a strong statement but make it light-hearted by using images of babies, drag queens, and giants to show that being a ‘hyung’ is more of a mentality.”

“Respect should be given only when received, not based on age/gender/race or sex,” he adds. “With this being my first official single in Korea ever, I really wanted to use a lot of cultural references and have fun with it!”
