Rihanna, Kim Kardashian, John Legend, and More React to Trump’s Muslim Immigration Ban
Not even Kim Kardashian could stomach the events that unfolded all over America on Saturday following President Donald Trump‘s executive order banning Muslims from traveling to the United States.
The reality star has been relatively quiet on social media by her standards after her infamous robbery in Paris last October. But late Saturday, after a Federal Judge ordered a temporary stay on the executive order, Kardashian tweeted a chart that listed the different ways in which Americans die each year, and wrote just a single word: “Statistics.”
Since the list showed that more than 11,000 Americans are killed each year by gun violence compared to only two that are killed by “Islamic jihadist immigrants,” it’s pretty clear where Kardashian stands on the issue. Other celebrities who took to social media to express their anger, shock, and sorrow over Saturday’s events include Kim’s sister Khloe, who tweeted “’All of this in the news today breaks my heart.”
Alyssa Milano shared a photo of herself and her friend Alaa Khaled. “My best friend, Alaa Mohammad Khaled, is Muslim,” she tweeted. His parents were Palestinian refugees. His brother is DJ Khaled. #RefugeesWelcome,”
“Sick to my stomach today about the #MuslimBan Don’t understand why?” tweeted Kerry Washington. “Go to @Stl_Manifest & learn the awful history of US rejecting refugees.”
Rihanna also couldn’t contain her anger. “Disgusted! The news is devastating! America is being ruined right before our eyes! What an immoral pig you have to be to implement such BS!” she tweeted.
Michael Moore meanwhile, felt that an apology was in order. “To our Muslim neighbors in the world: I & tens of millions of others are so very sorry,” he wrote. “The majority of Americans did not vote 4 this man.”
