Sampha Drops ‘Process’ Album | Complex
Sampha made waves in 2016, appearing on some of the most popular and critically acclaimed projects of the year. We’re talking Kanye West’s The Life of Pablo, Solange’s A Seat at the Table, as well as Frank Ocean’s visual album Endless. And we can’t forget his appearances on Drake’s 2013 album Nothing Was the Same (“Too Much” and “The Motion”).
Though the cameos put Sampha on many people’s radar, the British singer-songwriter wasn’t content with simply being a featured artist, which is why he decided to make a proper introduction with his debut solo album titled Process.
The 10-track project includes the previously released singles “Timmy’s Prayer,” “Blood on Me,” and “(No One Knows Me) Like The Piano.” In a December 2016 interview with Complex, Sampha opened up about creating the album, and how it helped him process difficult emotions.
“I’d go to the studio, make these tracks, and when I’d hear them back I’d think, ‘Oh, I didn’t even know I was feeling that way,’” he explained. “I was almost empathizing with myself. It’s really weird when you create something you can relate to outside of yourself.”

In conjunction with the album’s release, Sampha will kick off the Process World Tour on Feb. 6 in Chicago, followed by stops in NYC, Montreal, Paris, Berlin, London, and more.
Process is available now on iTunes. You can also stream it below via Spotify.
