Nearly 10 fucking years ago, T-Pain responded to fans’ impatience for the Wayne collab project in an MTV News interview. “Yeah, yeah, yeah, definitely we can discuss it, man,” Pain said in 2008. “I’ve been doing an album with Lil Wayne. It’s called T-Wayne: The Project. It’s basically just going to be an array of things, just a visual love. The two artists you’ve seen collaborate with everyone except each other. When you see us together, it’s crazy right now.” At the time, Pain was also publicly pondering the possibility of multiple T-Wayne projects.
In a separate interview that same year, Wayne described the similarities in his and Pain’s creative energies. “He loves to be creative, he loves to work; I love to create, I love to work,” Wayne explained to MTV News. “He really wants people to respect his rapping; I really want people to respect my harmonizing.”
For anyone trying to call his bluff, Pain dropped T-Wayne on SoundCloud and YouTube Thursday:

Pain’s surprise drop arrives amid reports of Tha Carter V—another long-awaited Wayne release—possibly arriving soon. In April, Wayne re-teased the album’s release with a “Fuck Cash Money” message to an audience in Dallas, Texas.
This week, TMZ reported that Wayne’s team was prepared to sue Martin Shkreli if he continued leaking Tha Carter V snippets online.
