The Game Receives Sentence for Assaulting an Off-Duty Police Officer
The Game has been sentenced to three years probation, 120 days of community service, and 26 anger management classes for punching an off-duty police officer nearly two years ago.
According to TMZ, the 37-year-old rapper pleaded no contest to misdemeanor battery and criminal threats stemming from the alleged assault. For those who don’t remember, prosecutors claimed The Game had punched LAPD officer Onyebuchi Awaji during a pickup basketball game in Hollywood. Awaji later sued the Compton rapper for the assault, and ultimately won a $100,000 default judgment after The Game failed to appear in court; however, the lawsuit led to additional legal troubles.
While being served with the legal papers, The Game approached a man who was filming him. He then allegedly grabbed and threatened the individual before and stole his camera. The rapper pleaded no contest to one felony count of grand theft in connection with the incident.
But The Game isn’t in the clear. If he fails to meet the terms of his probation, he will have to serve six months behind bars, TMZ reports.
In November of 2016, The Game lost a $7.1 million lawsuit, in which he was accused of sexually assaulting a woman while filming his reality show, She Got Game.
