The Weeknd Brought Out Kendrick Lamar for His L.A. Performance
Two of the music industry’s top-selling artists crossed paths Saturday night, when The Weeknd’s Legend of the Fall tour made a stop in Inglewood, California. Abel used the opportunity to welcome his “Sidewalks” collaborator Kendrick Lamar, who hails from nearby Compton. Back in December, Weeknd saw every single from his Starboy album hit the Billboard Hot 100 chart en route to posting 2016’s third-biggest debut. Kendrick Lamar enjoyed similar success, as all 14 tracks from his Damn album charted on Billboard’s Hot 100. To date, Damn is 2017’s best-selling Billboard chart debut.

Saturday night, The Weeknd not only shared stage time with Kendrick when the pair performed their Starboy duet “Sidewalks,” but the singer also granted Kendrick some solo stage time, as the latter performed his single “Humble.”
The Weeknd and Kendrick previously teamed up during 2016’s “Vevo Presents” show in December. Attendees at the December show were also treated to a performance of “Sidewalks,” with Kendrick assuming hype man duties during his appearance.
Given the commercial and critical success both artists enjoy, those in attendance and fans who caught wind of the pairing via social media shared some interesting reactions.
Kendrick Lamar just made a surprise appearance during The Weeknd’s set at The Forum. I’ve never heard an audience scream like that. Ever.
