Wale and J. Cole Hang Out at a Basketball Game Together

It’s no question that J. Cole sent shock waves through the internet earlier this week after he announced the Dec. 9 release of 4 Your Eyez Only. Social media was even more active after Cole dropped his 40-minute documentary Eyez that featured two new songsone of them called “False Prophets,” which was widely speculated as a direct shot at Kanye West and Wale.

Wale left no time for wonder about his reaction to Cole’s verse by immediately releasing his returned shot at Cole, “Groundhog Day,” less than 24 hours later. And people are really impressed by The Gifted rapper’s rebuttal.

But are they really beefing with each other, or was this just a friendly competition to step each other’s pen game up?

This apparently seems to be the latter because Wale put a 10-second clip of the two MCs at Saturday’s Boston University vs. NC State basketball game at PNC Arena in Raleigh, North Carolina. As you see in the video clip above, both Cole and Wale don’t seem to have much of an ax to grind. And here’s is another tweet of the two being spotted together in the crowd.

Here is another caveat about the two former collaborators: J. Cole’s “False Prophets” was reportedly recorded several months ago. Joey Bada$$ tweeted his approval for J. Cole to use the same beat from “Waves” off his 1999 mixtape to record “False Prophets.”

Perhaps at the time of the recording of “False Prophets,” it was just some emotional advice from his friend J. Cole who told Wale to “count his blessings” as stated in the song instead of lamenting about his fans and other industry shenanigans that he was in his feelings about at the time of these tweets.

Either way, it’s good to see these two friends getting along at Christmas time. ‘Tis the season…
