Watch Harry Styles Perform His Own Rendition of Kanye West’s “Ultralight Beam”

Early Saturday morning, One Direction member Harry Styles announced that tickets for what was previously being billed as a “secret show” at London’s famed venue The Garage were going on sale to the general public. While the £10 tickets quickly sold-out, highlights of the show went viral thanks to Styles’ cover of Kanye West’s “Ultralight Beam.”

While Kanye’s original 2016 collaboration with Chance the Rapper, Kelly Price, The-Dream, and Kirk Franklin features gospel overtones and a wild sample of four-year-old Natalie Green, Styles opted for a down tempo, guitar-heavy version. This would give Styles the latest notable “Ultralight Beam” cover after Grime artist Stormzy’s Live Radio 1 version from January.

Styles’ set list also included notable cuts such as “Ever Since New York,” “Caroline,” “Stockholm Syndrome” and “Sign O The Times” off his new solo debut album.

For those looking for celebrity gossip related to the show, the obvious link between Styles and “Ultralight Beam” originator Kanye West would be one Taylor Swift. Styles and Swift were an item from November 2012 to January 2013. Swift and West have a well-documented history that dates back to at least the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards, but also includes West’s line from “Famous,” and Kim Kardashian producing receipts of a phone call with Swift allegedly giving West the OK to mention her in the song.

According to Yahoo UK Celebrity Reporter Stephanie Soteriou, Styles’ show went off without a hitch. The singer treated fans to free pizza prior to the show with Styles also reportedly donating all the event’s proceeds to The Little Princess Trust. That would be the same charitable organization he donated his hair to in 2016.
