Watch Sampha’s Gorgeous NPR ‘Tiny Desk Concert’

As usual with NPR’s fantastic Tiny Desk Concert series, they’ve gotten an awesome artist to come in and perform stripped-back versions of their songs. The latest edition sees Sampha delivering barebones versions of “(No One Knows Me) Like the Piano,” “Blood On Me,” and “Plastic 100°C.” Accompanied by a piano and a synth, these skeletal versions of tracks from his stellar album Process offer a different perspective.

While the original for “(No One Knows Me) Like the Piano” was already quite basic in terms of the instrumental to begin with, it’s certainly nice to hear “Blood On Me” in particular in a new light. Moving away from the choatic percussion and layered production of the original, this performance breathes new life into the song by stripping away almost everything but Sampha and his piano.
