Young M.A.’s ‘Herstory’ EP Is Finally Here

Young M.A.‘s Herstory EP, originally due for release in March, has finally arrived. The seven-track EP hit Spotify, Apple Music, and other streaming platforms Thursday. In addition to the hit singles “Hot Sauce” and “Ooouuu,” Herstory features a Monica collab and just enough new music to keep fans happy until M.A.’s previously announced Herstory sequel EP and debut album, both due later this year.

“Ooouuu,” produced by U-Dub, proved to be one of 2016’s biggest tracks. First released in May, the single peaked on the Billboard Hot 100 at No. 19 and landed on Complex’s 50 Best Songs of 2016 ranking and a variety of other year-end lists. “This is a record where I just wanted to be cool on the track,” M.A. told Genius last year. “I’m chill, I’m humble a lot, I needed one of those records. When I went to record the track, I wanted to be drunk while I recorded it. I was really smizz and drizz when I recorded the record so it feels authentic.”

Speaking to Rolling Stone in September, M.A. teased her official debut album. “Yeah, next year I have plans on doing that,” M.A. said. “Herstory in the Making is basically what it’s called.” The album is described as the story of “how long I’ve been grinding and working, and chasing this dream since I was a kid.”

Following the chart success of “Ooouuu,” M.A. added, major labels started reaching out about future partnerships. “I’m just going with the flow right now,” M.A. explained. In the meantime, stream Young M.A.’s Herstory EP below via Spotify:
