Don’t Expect a Surprise Kanye West Appearance at Coachella

Don’t expect a surprise Kanye West appearance at this year’s Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival. Though some had started to speculate that West might pop in during Travis Scott or ScHoolboy Q‘s sets during the two-weekend fest, TMZ reported Friday that “multiple festival sources” have confirmed that no such thing was being planned.

“Kanye will not perform at Coachella,” TMZ reported Friday. “Period.”

That sounds pretty definitive, but if someone were trying to make a surprise Coachella appearance, wouldn’t they make sure TMZ‘s “festival sources” were also in on the secret enough to protect it in the press? Either way, at least we still have footage of West’s 2011 Coachella set to marvel upon:

Last week, West launched his first Yeezy jewelry collection. The collection, a collaboration between West and Jacob & Company’s Jacob Arabo (a.k.a. Jacob the Jeweler), had previously been teased by Kim Kardashian on social media and at the 2016 MTV Video Music Awards.

Lady Gaga stepped in to replace Beyoncé as this year’s Coachella headliner in February. Richy Jackson, Gaga’s visual director, told Entertainment Weekly Thursday that fans should expect an hour-plus set on both weekends. “For the crowd at Coachella, they are there for so many different reasons, so as far as our show, what I can tell you, it is going to be high energy,” Jackson said. “We are going to play with some of her various genres she has within her as an artist and figure out a way to allocate those things throughout the show, and take some risks and some chances and have a good time, because we’re out there at Coachella.”
