Barack Obama Denies Donald Trump’s Wiretapping Claim

Barack Obama denies President Trumps claims that he tapped phones at Trump Tower during the 2016 presidential election. A spokesperson for the former POTUS called Trump’s allegations, “simply false.”

“A cardinal rule of the Obama Administration was that no White House official ever interfered with any independent investigation led by the Department of Justice,” Obama spokesman Kevin Lewis said in a statement. “As part of this practice, neither President Obama nor any White House official ever ordered surveillance on any U.S. citizen. Any suggestion otherwise is simply false,”

Trump made the claim during an early-morning Twitter rant, days after defending Attorney General Jeff Sessions’ over his previously undisclosed contact with Russian Ambassador, Sergey Kislyak.

“Terrible! Just found out that Obama had my ‘wires tapped’ in Trump Tower just before the victory,” Trump tweeted Saturday (March 4). “Nothing found. This is McCarthyism!”

The 70-year-old billionaire provided zero evidence to substantiate his accusations.
