This week’s edition of XXL‘s best songs takes a look at both ascendant rap stars and stalwarts of hip-hop’s bursting underground. These tracks all have at least a few things special about them, but we will (at least in part) let you find out for yourself.

First up is Nef The Pharaoh‘s “Back Out,” a new collaboration featuring the talents of Ty Dolla $ign. The Architekz-produced banger finds the two hip-hop luminaries in their element kicking game to baddies everywhere.

“I hit it and pull her tracks out/The chain, I make ’em tap out/Switchin’ positions ’til she pass out/She fell asleep with her ass out/It all started at a party, she was dancin’ seductive/Then Snoop came on, we got a sexual eruption,” the Vallejo MC raps on the track, which will appear on his forthcoming The Chang Project, due out April 28.

Next up on the list is “Still Palm Trees,” a new collaboration from the Flatbush Zombies and Snoop Dogg. The new track sees Snoop handle hook duties as the FBZ  wax on about their love of chronic.

Wifisfuneral‘s “2 Step” was another obvious choice. The new track finds the new Alamo Records artist showcasing his skills over a hard-hitting beat from 808 Mafia. The track is all set to appear on the rapper’s forthcoming Ethernet mixtape.

Coming in at the end of the week was “Gilligan,” D.R.A.M.‘s energetic new collaboration with A$AP Rocky and Juicy J. With a dynamic flow and deft rhyme schemes, Rocky took home the title of Best Verse on the new banger.

Jimmy Wopo‘s “Elm Street 2″ finds the emerging Pittsburgh MC deliver gritty lyrics with a menacing flow, while P-Lo’s new collab with E-40 “Put Me On Somethin’” is a certified slapper. And last but not least, Thugger slid in at the last second with his fly new video for “All The Time.”
