Bobby Shmurda Works in the Prison Commissary
With the next three to seven years of his life already planned out by the Department of Corrections, Bobby Shmurda is settling in to living on the other side and even has a job.
According to TMZ, the “Hot Nigga” rapper has a gig working in the commissary of the Clinton Correctional Facility in upstate New York, where he is being housed. The site’s sources say Bobby is raking in about 10 to 25 cents a day, which is a far cry from what he was pulling in for shows during the height of his short-lived fame, before everything changed.
In other Bobby related news, the Brooklyn rapper reportedly got into a brawl with some inmates back in November, causing him to spend 30 days in isolation, with no phone or commissary privileges.
Back in February, he pleaded guilty to trying to sneak a shank into the prison. In October, he was sentenced to one to three years for conspiracy in the fourth degree and seven years for criminal possession of a weapon, stemming from the massive arrest in December 2014.
His team is still hoping he will be able to salvage his career upon his release. The rapper’s attorney Alex Spiro said of that previous plea, “His sentence of seven years, with credit for two years already served and good time credit will hopefully permit him to be home in approximately three-and-a-half years and resume his remarkable career.”
Some of the GS9 rapper’s friends are not getting off as easy. In January, Santino Boderick was sentenced to 117 years in prison. Last May, Rashid “Rasha” Derissant was sentenced to 98 years in prison on charges of murder and attempted murder.
