Boosie BadAzz is taking the 2Pac comparisons to a new level. The Baton Rouge rapper, who has been referred to as the southern 2Pac, announced that his new album will be titled BooPac.

“My next album, it’s gon’ be my biggest album to date,” Boosie said around the 2:58 mark of his interview with DJ Vlad. “My next album, I’m naming it BooPac.”

Boosie is aware of the criticism that will come with his album’s title. Troy Ave was widely mocked for comparing himself to 2Pac and naming his album after the legendary rapper. But for Boosie, what the title means to him outweighs any negativity.

“I know it’s gon’ be a big ol’ thang, but it’s in my heart,” he said. “That’s what I want to do. I’m naming it BooPac. It’s a double disc, 26 songs. Because I’m my generation’s 2Pac. A lotta people didn’t grow up on 2Pac. Lotta people didn’t grow up on Biggie. Those who love that kind of music grew up on me. That’s one reason I’m [doing it]. Another reason is the ‘Pac music is forgotten about now. That real music that touch you, that feel like he was brought into yo household witchu like he was yo cousin. That music is forgotten about right now.”

In addition to the new double album, Boosie is set to act in his first feature film this year too. The veteran rapper landed a role in an indie boxing film called Glass Jaw. Boosie will play an underground fight club promoter.
