Brooklyn Supermarket Sells Biggie-Inspired Paper Bags

Thursday (Mar. 9), marks the 20th anniversary of Christopher Wallace’s untimely death, but since then, the legendary Brooklyn rapper’s legacy still remains dominant in merely all aspects of urban culture—even in your local grocery store.

Growing up in Bedford-Stuyvesant, the man professionally known as Biggie Smalls or the Notorious B.I.G. would pack groceries at his local Met Food Supermarket. Now, in efforts to commemorate his life on this day, the market made special edition Biggie paper bags.

Jed Heuer and his wife Jennifer, who have been longtime residents of the area since 2000, created the limited edition bags, reports HipHopDX. Reportedly, there are 100 bags at Key Food, where Met once stood at 991 Fulton Street, which are available for retail on a first-come, first-served basis. “This project is about paying respect to a legendary artist and sharing a piece of neighborhood history,” Jennifer said.
