Charlamagne Tha God Makes Himself ‘Donkey Of The Day’

Charlamagne Tha God royally pissed off the Internet when he took to Twitter Tuesday (Dec. 6) to charge black and brown women with not creating a platform big enough to combat conservative talk show host Tomi Lahren. Within moments, “The Breakfast Club” talking head began to trend for reasons no one wants to ever trend and many people–including black women–collectively gathered the 36-year-old.

The “Black Privilege” author quickly realized the error in his ways and was publicly scolded by the likes of MTV’s “Decoded” host Franchesca Ramsey and others, so it was only right Charlamagne take his L and crown himself “Donkey of The Day.”

“I tell you people all the time, in life you either win or you learn. That’s what the L stands for, learning, and last night I learned you have to be specific on social media.”

Charlamagne was corrected by a Twitter user who understood the sentiment behind his inflammatory comment, but stated he should’ve charged women of color for not creating a news network and not use the word platform. The “Brilliant Idiot” host understood, however, he insisted simply using social media isn’t enough.

“Social media is the engine that makes it go, we need to build the car. The online news network is the car. “

The Power 105.1 radio personality further clarified his statement about what he hopes to see women of color do and accomplish, and also realized that his inability to better articulate his thoughts, caused the uproar online.

“There’s a saying ‘I’m responsible for what I say, but not for not what you understand.’ I don’t wholeheartedly agree with that. I am responsible for what I say, but I have a duty to phrase it in a way that you do understand. Maybe I didn’t do a good job of doing that last night via social media.”

Charlamagne ended his spiel by giving himself the same hee-haw he’s given to past “Donkey of The Day” honorees Donald Trump, Katt Williams, Kanye West and Tomi Lahren, but still wondered how women of color with online news networks can be made bigger and their voices amplified.
