Ciara Drops Defamation Lawsuit Against Future
The legal wrangling between Ciara and Future has finally come to an end. Ciara dropped her $15 million defamation lawsuit against the “March Madness” rapper, according to a report by TMZ.
Ciara filed documents in the Superior Court in Fulton County, Ga. to officially stop this legal battle. The singer’s actions come up after she dropped a libel lawsuit against her former fiancé back in October 2016. Ciara’s defamation lawsuit was dismissed with prejudice, meaning that it cannot be refiled.
The defamation lawsuit was originally filed in February 2016 following some public statements in which Future spoke negatively about his custody battle with Ciara. “She probably set [Russell Wilson] up. You letting them catch that photo. Leave my son out of all the publicity stunts,” Future said in radio interview. He also vented his frustrations about his baby’s mother in a series of tweets.
“I gotta go through lawyers to see babyfuture,” Future wrote in Janauary 2016. “The fuckery for 15k a month. I been silent for a year & a half..I ran outta patience. I jus want babyfuture that’s all.”
Ciara claimed that Future’s words caused her to lose a $500,000 endorsement deal, which was part of the reason why she sought $15 million in damages. A judge would dismiss this claim, stating that it was not enough to warrant all the money she was asking from Future. That ruling quickly led to Ciara dropping her aforementioned libel lawsuit against Future.
