Curtis "Wall Street" Carroll is a Stock Expert Serving Life in Prison (Flashback)

Back in 2017, Curtis “Wall Street” Carroll spoke to Sway about the importance of financial literacy, describing it as “one of the biggest issues that plague our society.” During the segment, Carroll states that “90% of crimes committed are money related yet only 1% of the programs that cater to people in prison deal with finance,” which has led him to work towards solutions while dedicating himself to the cause.

Known as the “Oracle of San Quentin”, Curtis Carroll was convicted of murder over 20 years ago when he was sentenced to 54 years to life in prison at the age of 16. Prior to that, Carroll grew up in Oakland, California during the Crack epidemic of the 1980s.

Since that time, Carroll has become an expert on financial literacy while serving out his sentence, where now decades later he sees his life as an opportunity to teach the essential life skills to the masses. The motivation comes from his belief that most crime is attributed to a lack of financial security, which has led him to teach other inmates about the stock market inside of San Quentin, providing them with a sense of hope for their future upon their release.
