DMX and Swizz Beatz Channel Their Inner Villain on “Bane Is Back”
DMX and Swizz Beatz surprise the web and release new music today (Jan. 12). The duo drop “Bane Is Back,” an excellent Ruff Ryders reunion.
“Man, cats nowadays be spittin’ that fuck shit/Bird ass niggas spittin’ that duck shit/I’m from the old school and that there we don’t fuck with/Been locked down on lockdown Who you? suck a dick/Four ways to get in when you fit in: floor, chair/Before you climb the ladder try to find the stairs,” raps DMX.
The record was inspired by Bane, the famous DC Comics and Batman villain who was played by Tom Hardy in 2012’s The Dark Knight Rises. Hopefully, this is the first of more releases coming from the Dark Man X and Swizz Beatz.
Last month, Swizz shared a number of new tracks, saying repeatedly, “The album crazy, I promise you.”
Most of the Instagram clips show Swizz rapping, opening one song with the line, “To all my school teachers that I said I wouldn’t make it/you probably looking at my life in the crib getting faded.”
He tags the rappers featured on the album, including Young Thug, French Montana, 2 Chainz and DMX, in each post.
Swizz’s last album, One Man Band Man, dropped in 2007, though he has supplied production to a variety of artists since, most recently to his wife Alicia Keys, who has four Swizzy-produced tracks on her new album Here.
At the 2017 Soulquarius lineup, DMX along with Ja Rule, R. Kelly, Erykah Badu, The Pharcyde and more will perform. The event is slated for Sat., Feb. 18 in Santa Ana, Calif.
