In this clip, Don Q discussed gaining notoriety from his HOT 97 freestyle and the deal with Atlantic that came later on. Don Q and DJ Vlad went over a line from the freestyle that exhibited Don’s wordplay and ability to convey an image. He went on to break down his recording process.

Don said that he doesn’t write lyrics while in the studio because he’s learned how to “catch a vibe” and mumble flows before filling them in with lyrics. However, he did say that he continues to write out his lyrics if he’s not in the studio.
