Donald Trump Takes Credit For Colin Kaepernick’s Unemployment
Speaking at a rally in Louisville, Kentucky on Monday night (March 20), Donald Trump touched on a number of topics and somehow Colin Kaepernick’s name came up. The president sounded as if he was taking pride in the free agent quarterback’s unemployment. During the speech, Trump spoke on the fact that NFL owners aren’t signing the 29-year-old out of fear of a heckling message from him calling the team out on Twitter, CNN reports.

“They don’t want to get a nasty tweet from Donald Trump. Do you believe that?” Trump stated. Reasoning this with the people of Kentucky, he added, “They like it when people actually stand for the American flag.” This isn’t the first time Trump has gone after Kaepernick since he called the then-presidential candidate “openly racist.”
At a time during the NFL season when Kaepernick protested social injustice by kneeling during the national anthem, Trump critiqued the San Francisco 49er quarterback’s actions in a radio interview while he was running for president. “I think it’s personally not a good thing. I think it’s a terrible thing,” he said. “And, you know, maybe he should find a country that works better for him. Let him try. It won’t happen.”

Activist and film director Spike Lee came to the defense of Kaepernick, who will be standing for the anthem this season, questioning the NFL’s possible collusion against the pro-athlete to the keep him out of the league.
