Fans Everywhere Rejoice Over 4 New Gorillaz Tracks
All four new releases from alt act Gorillaz reached the top 10 of the Billboard + Twitter Trending 140 chart Thursday afternoon (March 23), with “Saturnz Barz,” featuring Popcaan, leading the way with a No. 1 rank.
The Billboard + Twitter Trending 140 chart measures the real-time acceleration of conversation around artists and their music on Twitter.
As “Barz” led the list (after 2 p.m. ET), “Andromeda,” featuring D.R.A.M., followed closely with a No. 3 high, while “Ascension,” featuring Vince Staples, was next at No. 5 and “We Got the Power,” featuring Jehnny Beth, landed at No. 9.
The four tracks, along with “Hallelujah Money,” featuring Benjamin Clementine, which Gorillaz released in January, are slated to appear on the act’s fifth studio album Humanz, due out April 28. The LP marks their first new release since 2010’s Plastic Beach, which spent a week at No. 1 on the Top Rock Albums chart and reached No. 2 on the Billboard 200.
