Kanye West Helped Frank Ocean Write a Song on ‘Blond’
The full liner notes for Frank Ocean’s Blond album have been revealed, confirming Kanye West helped pen a song on the highly anticipated LP. You can peep the full credits below via Reddit.
A list of songwriters was provided by ASCAP back in September, revealing Kendrick Lamar, Pharrell, Tyler, The Creator and 88-Keys had a hand in the project, but those credits didn’t turn out to be complete.
K. Dot earned a credit on “Skyline To,” while Skateboard P contributed to “Pink + White.” Frank’s Odd Future bro Tyler, The Creator is credited on both of those songs. Producer 88-Keys also landed a writing credit on the slow song “Solo,” while Yung Lean is named as a contributor on “God Speed.”
Now that physical copies of the album are available, all contributors have been properly accounted for, with Kanye West and Beyoncé also getting their props. Kanye is noted as a co-writer on “White Ferrari,” while Beyoncé has been confirmed as the background vocalist on the ballad “Pink + White.”
Outside of the hip-hop world, other voices found on the album include the Beatles, Elliott Smith, Jamie xx, Rostam Batmanglij, James Blake and Gang of Four.
West has been very vocal about Ocean’s album getting its just due. At one point, he threatened to boycott the Grammy awards if the project was not included in the 2017 nominations, despite the fact that the Odd Future singer purposely didn’t submit the project to be nominated.
Franks album debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart after its release, moving 276,000 copies in its first week out.
